Projects
1.
37mm Camera system - Explained in detail on both Geekgunner.com, and on
Vlad's website (TARS), this system is designed to throw a
camera/instrumentation module high in the air, and to wirelessly
transmit images/video/telemetry down to the base stations below.
2.
Wires - This project is still under wraps. (Wire Wraps!)
<rimshot!> :) Anyway, this project is all about
wires. Details to follow in about a month.
3. How to build
systems emulators on widely differing hardware? If I can use a
standard PC to emulate hundreds of different arcade game systems
(MAME), can I use some simple hardware to emulate other simple but
vastly different, and more expensive hardware, for use in a
lab/simulation/training/security testing environment? Details to
follow. Sorry, this one is under wraps too.
4. Video
collection devices. Yeah, cameras again. Video goes from a
camera to a server or DVR, right? In what format? Some are
IP (RJ-45), some are analog (BNC). Can I use Wireshark, or other
software, to "see" the video? Alter the video? Change the
timestamp on a video? Hmmmmm. Research is fun!
5.
Forensics on a Dime: Hard Drive Write Blockers - Can a USB write
blocker be used with a SATA/IDE to USB adapter? It would be a
cheap alternative to a dedicated SATA/IDE write blocker, on the order
of 1/2 to 1/3 as much. Are there issues with doing so? Is
it forensically sound? Research has been done, but it needs to be
re-addressed with the new drives out, such as hybrid drives, SAS
drives, and SSD drives. HPA/DCO's could also be handled in this
context. It then needs to be written up, and submitted as a
peer-reviewed journal article. Time, as always, is the issue.
